"And that's why i have to go back
to so many places
there to find myself
and constantly examine myself
with no witness but the moon
and then whistle with joy,
ambling over rocks and clods of earth,
with no task but to live,
with no family but the road."
-Pablo Neruda

Not Enough To Fold - A. Joy
Forgotten like air
without movement
The simple dream
of people talking
Animate with hunger
for the unexpected
While the woman
I used to be
sleeps
without movement
The simple dream
of people talking
Animate with hunger
for the unexpected
While the woman
I used to be
sleeps

There is - K. Lumpkin
There is
a flash
of pain
when I awake
and you’re
not here again…
out the window
the Lake laughs
at me
with the sparkle
of a whore
and her secret
I start the day
as if you were
here anyway…

Carlos Pintado - CUARTETAS DE OTOÑO
Me han concedido el fuego del pecado.
Sólo el fuego; el amor jamás ha sido
En mí sino una sombra. Yo he soñado,
-en las eternas noches del olvido-,
Sólo el fuego; el amor jamás ha sido
En mí sino una sombra. Yo he soñado,
-en las eternas noches del olvido-,
Que alguien me ama y me sueña. No he podido
Corresponder. Soy triste como el hado
Que invierte los destinos del amado.
Soy el amado; no quien ama. He sido
Corresponder. Soy triste como el hado
Que invierte los destinos del amado.
Soy el amado; no quien ama. He sido
El traidor y el amigo. He complacido
A oscuros dioses el manjar sagrado.
Alguien en la penumbra me ha buscado.
Alguien en la penumbra me ha vencido.
A oscuros dioses el manjar sagrado.
Alguien en la penumbra me ha buscado.
Alguien en la penumbra me ha vencido.

Through Thick And Thin
I could skip a heartbeat, and I would survive,
I could be in a car crash, and still be alive.
The clouds could fall out of the sky,
The oceans could disappear, and all turn dry.
These things in life are all bad I know,
but there's far worse things,
just thought you should know.
Life would not be the same without someone like you,
You're there when I need you to help me through.
Through the good times and through the bad,
Be them happy, or be them sad.
I don't have to be with you, to know you're there,
We don't have to see each other, to know that we care.
We could be apart for years upon end,
and still remain the best of friends.
Life goes on, and people change,
And through it all, our friendship shall remain the same.
That's such as a life, and how things come to be.
Just thought you should know,
How much you mean to me.

The Things I'm Not Yet
There’s a crowd in my head: all the things I’m not yet.
Words without paper, pages
sighing in summer forests, gardens
where builders stub out their rubble
and plastic oozes its sweat.
All the things I’m but I’m not yet.
The lonely window in midwinter
with the whine of tea on an empty stomach,
the gorgeous shush of restaurant doors
and their interiors, always so much smaller.
Not the smell of the newsprint, the blur
on my fingertips — my fame.
My hand,
that small one without a mark of work on it,
the one that's strange to the washing-up bowl
and doesn't know Fairy Liquid for whiskey.
Not yet the moment of the arrival in taxis
at daring destinations, or my being alone at stations
with the skirts of my fashionable clothes flapping
and no money for the telephone.
Not yet the moment when I can give you nothing
so well-folded it fits in an envelope —
a dull letter you won't reread.
Not yet the moment of your assimilation
in that river flowing westward: rivers of clothes,
of dreams, an accent unlike my own
saying to someone I don't know: darling...

Smile
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest! If you must-but never quit.
Life is queer, with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might of won if he'd stuck it out;
Stick to your task, though the pace seems slows-
You may succeed with one more blow.
Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt-
And you may never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things seem worse that YOU MUSN'T QUIT
